Eva Casale runningSuffolk Federal is the lead sponsor for extreme distance ultra-marathon runner and VP of Information Technology, Eva Casale as she completes an incredible seven marathons in seven days to raise funds and awareness for Hope For The Warriors. Eva will run a total of 184 miles during her “Every Veteran Appreciated Week” which will take place from April 21 through April 27.

Each marathon will be focused on honoring local servicemen killed in action and will be linked to communities they called home. “I have a unique ability to run long distances, so I am using my passion for running to help others by supporting and honoring our veterans,” explains Casale. “I have created Team E.V.A. which stands for ‘Every Veteran Appreciated,’ to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country. It’s an honor for me to organize and run this event and to know that I can bring people together to take part in such an important mission.”

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has been a strong supporter of Eva’s efforts. “Each year Eva goes above and beyond to support local veterans through her Team E.V.A. event,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “Suffolk County is home to the largest veterans population in New York State and it is heartening to see residents like Eva step up to support these heroes.”

For the first time this year, Team E.V.A. will be expanding into Nassau County. “We are inspired and excited to have Eva and her team expand their efforts into Nassau County. Their dedication, hard work and commitment to making such a significant contribution to our local veterans is admirable and helps to promote and unify a stronger community here on Long Island,” explained Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.

One of Suffolk Federal’s priorities is to support and give back to the communities the credit union serves. “Long Island is home to many veterans here in New York State. For this reason—and as a United States Air Force veteran—I believe that supporting our community’s veterans is not just a choice, but a responsibility. We are honored to be the lead sponsor of Eva and are proud to support her mission—not just to raise funds, but to bring attention to the needs of these brave men and women and their families who sacrifice so much. We invite our members and the extended community to join us in April as we cheer on Team E.V.A. with her seven-day journey,” said Ralph D. Spencer Jr., President & CEO.

As in previous years, Casale will be raising funds for Hope For The Warriors. “We are honored to be part of this incredible endeavor and are grateful for Eva’s amazing running endurance and compassion for veterans, service members and military families. Eva and Suffolk Federal’s continued support to our organization is significant to the Hope for the Warriors programs focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement and connections to community resources,” explains Senior Director of Sports and Recreation for Hope For The Warriors Steve Bartomioli.

This year’s marathons Opening Ceremonies will take place at the Huntington Elks Lodge #1565.
