Suffolk Federal recently contributed $3,000 in support of Suffolk County Crime Stoppers. The Crime Stoppers program connects the residents of Suffolk County with local police departments to collect information that helps locate suspects and leads to necessary arrests. Crime Stoppers benefits both the caller and the community. Callers who provide information are kept anonymous and can earn rewards if the information they provide leads to an arrest. As a result, communities across Suffolk County are kept safer by promoting awareness and reducing future crime.
Specific to financial institutions, Crime Stoppers has led to arrests in nearly 50 bank robberies and solved multiple cases involving ATM, debit and credit card fraud across Suffolk County in 2017.
“As a financial institution, I believe that addressing these crimes is not only a necessity, but a responsibility, as each instance ultimately has a significant impact on our organization,” said Ralph D. Spencer, Jr., President & CEO of Suffolk Federal and Board Member of Suffolk County Crimestoppers. “I urge all local financial institutions to support Crime Stoppers. Their work is a great benefit not only to our places of work, but also to the citizens in our communities.”
“We’re grateful for Suffolk Federal’s recent generous contribution to the Crime Stoppers Program,” said Nick Amarr, President, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers. “Annually Suffolk Federal has supported our rewards program where major crimes across Suffolk County are solved through our 800-220-TIPS for cash phone number. Donations like this allow Crime Stoppers to continue their work collaborating with law enforcement in protecting the public and communities across Suffolk County.”
