This February during American Heart Month, Suffolk Federal is making noise about the silent killer of heart disease. American Heart Month is a federally designated event to remind Americans to raise attention to the importance of heart health and to focus on a healthier lifestyle. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death every year in the world.
Throughout the month, Suffolk Federal members are invited to stop by any of the Long Island banking institution’s 10 convenient area branch locations and make a monetary donation to support the American Heart Association. In exchange, each member who contributes will receive a contribution card which will hang in the respective branch where they donated.
In addition, every week during February the credit union hosts their Suffolk Federal’s “Casual for a Cause” program where employees can dress down for a donation to the American Heart Association.
“Every year our members and employees offer their widespread support for the American Heart Association through their contributions so that together, we can bring awareness and attention to heart disease and the importance of a healthy lifestyle,” said Ralph D. Spencer, President & CEO of Suffolk Federal. “This is one way we can encourage everyone to learn and understand the signs and symptoms of heart disease and to schedule regular doctor visits.”
Donations to the American Heart Association will be accepted in any amount at any of Suffolk Federal’s branch locations from February 1 through February 29
