Commack branch fights hunger on Long Island

As part of Suffolk Federal’s 50th anniversary of exceptional service to its members, the credit union is hosting a “Celebrate & Do Good” campaign, taking place from now through October. For a $5 donation, members will receive a contest raffle ticket with which they can win $500. All donations collected will benefit Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Members are invited to stop by Suffolk Federal to participate and can find the monthly event schedule to determine when their local branch is hosting the contest.

Three branches have completed their monthly contest including West Babylon, Islandia and Commack. Combined, the fundraising total has exceeded $2,850 in donations and continues to grow. Ben Motley—a Suffolk Federal member of more than 37 years and winner of the Commack branch contest was thrilled to receive the winning call from Suffolk Federal.

Motley stated, “I still have butterflies, I never win anything! Also, I didn’t know much about Long Island Cares before I donated at Suffolk Federal. I am proud to know that I was able to support a Long Island food bank.”
