The health and safety of our membership and our employees remains a top priority during these unprecedented days of the COVID-19 global pandemic. The pandemic continues to pose risks relative to large gatherings; therefore, the Board of Directors of Suffolk Federal has decided it is in the best interests of all to conduct our annual meeting through virtual attendance.
The voting for the election of officers is conducted by ballot unless there is only one nominee for each position. The ballot will be mailed to all eligible members by Sunday, April 25, 2021. Your vote must be received by Thursday, May 20, 2021. To be eligible to vote, you must be 16 years of age and have a minimum balance in your share account of $5 as of Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Nominations for election may be made by petition. The petition must be signed by 1% of the members who are eligible to vote (maximum 500) and received by 5pm on Thursday April 15, 2021. The petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee stating that he or she will serve if elected to office. Nominees by petition must also include a statement of qualifications. Nominees for a seat on the Board of Directors will be posted in all credit union offices by Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
Current Nominees for the Suffolk Federal Board of Directors
Position of Director (2 positions, 3-year term, 1 position, 1-year term)
- Phil F.T. Bauccio for a 3 year term. Phil is the former Executive Director of the Suffolk County Risk Management & Benefits Division. He is also founder of Phil Bauccio Consultants & Associates, a firm that provides consulting services in risk management and government administration. Phil served an as Adjunct Professor of Business at Dowling College for 40 years. He also served on the Dowling School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and various other committees. He has also been a longstanding member of the Long Island Facility Managers Association, Risk & Insurance Management Society (Founder and Past President), New York Claim’s Association, Inc., and Nassau Claims Association, Inc. Phil earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University and his MBA from C.W. Post College. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He served in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard (42nd Infantry Division), and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1970-1994, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
- Frank C. Trotta for a 3 year term. Frank is the owner of two niche publications, 50 Plus Lifestyles, an award winning publication serving baby boomers and seniors on LI and NYC since 1975 and Fire News, a publication supporting Fire, Rescue and EMS departments in NY, NJ, DE, PA, MA, CT and RI. Frank is also a principal in a family-owned real estate development company. He has served as an elected official for the Village of Bellport for 31 years, including 27 years as Bellport’s longest-serving Mayor. Frank has served as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Town of Brookhaven, Director of the Suffolk County Office of the Aging, Trustee of Suffolk County Community College and, by appointment of the governor, to the Stony Brook University Council. Frank serves as Chaplain of the Bellport Fire department and has been involved with local organizations including the LI Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Foster Grandparents of Suffolk County and the American Red Cross. He is a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and his MBA in Public Administration from Long Island University.
- Tanya Palmore for a 1 year term. Tanya is currently the Executive Director of North Fork Housing Alliance, Inc., a non-profit organization that serves the North Fork of Eastern Long Island. The organization participates in the Section 8 housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program and serves, without discrimination, low and moderate-income residents who wish to acquire affordable housing. As Executive Director, Tanya works closely with community development offices, various organizations as well as financial institutions to develop housing units and related services. She is responsible for devising capital program strategies, business plans and housing network recommendations. Additionally, Tanya is proficient at grant writing and submitting applications on behalf of the agency. She ably serves as the Public Relations Manager for the housing program. Throughout her 21-year career at North Fork Housing Alliance, Inc., Tanya has worked in various capacities of increasing responsibility. She received her Masters of Science degree in Tax Accounting from the University of Albany and her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo.
Election results will be announced at the May 25, 2021 annual meeting.
